Irazu is the name of my flash project I am working on. I developed it in my Animation Honours year and had so many people say that they would want to watch it if it was animated I thought, why arn’t I trying to develop it. I have started to develop it in flash and pre-production art is found at my Irazu Website
So what is it about? Here is the underlying story; Irazu is the story of Dr. Pequita Florence, a young zoologist who works in her father’s science facility breeding sloths. Set in the near distant future South America, Sloths have become highly endangered. From young, Pequita had an interest in them and now works to save them.
One evening she finds a swipe card, granting her access to a restricted elevator. This takes her deep down into the facility where she not only finds hundreds of caged sloths which she bred (being fed some kind of ooze) but also a huge room filled with tanks of giant mutated dead sloths.
Her father has been experimenting on the sloths, trying to mutate them into large creatures able to dig in the mines of South America with their huge claws.
Apon finding one mutated sloth which is still alive and suvived the mystery experiements, a security guard is instructed to get rid of Pequita. The guard fires his gun, it misses, rebounds and shattered one of the liquid filled tanks holding a dead sloth. The water spills onto the floor, hitting a cable which shocks Pequita. She is thrown across the room into the glass window of a room where the living sloth Irazu is kept. Just as the security guard approaches her unconcious body, Irazu breaks out of his enclosure, grabs Pequita, and escapes from the facility into the jungle.
From here we follow Pequita and the Sloth called Irazu on their attempts to save their jungle, stop her father’s experiements and learn about Pequita’s new powers.
